Shiitake is a popular and tasty mushroom, also known as edible mushroom or "queen of mushrooms". Its origin can be traced back to East Asia. Today, however, it is cultivated in other places thanks to its use mainly in Chinese and Oriental cuisine, but especially for the production of food supplements. In traditional Chinese medicine, this queen among mushrooms has been used for thousands of years.
The edible mushroom is above all a rich natural source of betaglucans, unique natural complex polysaccharides with many therapeutic effects. Furthermore, in this mushroom we would find substances beneficial to the body, such as erythadenine, but also a host of vitamins - B2, B6, D or trace elements of copper, zinc, manganese, selenium or pantothenic acid, for example.
Shiitake is widely used in detoxification treatments and has many more uses in traditional Chinese medicine than we Europeans might think.
